35MM ADVENTURES

I have the Reverse-Midas touch. This means that instead of turning everything I touch into gold, I break pretty much everything I put my hands on. My earliest memory of this was prior to my LA trip back in grade 4. Before flying out to LA from Indonesia, we made a transit stop at Singapore and had enough free time to roam the city. 4th grader me was obsessed with Barbie, so my mom bought me a Barbie heart shaped sunglasses from Robinsons. Several days (or maybe hours) after we bought them, I broke one of the arms. To this day I don’t remember how I broke it. It just happened. My LA trip then primarily consisted of me trying to adjust my taped sunglasses so that it did not fall off my face. 12 years later, you would have thought that I don’t break things as much as I used to. Sadly, that is not true. This bad habit translated to my interactions with film cameras. I have several lomography cameras, Diana Mini, Fisheye No.2, Sprocket Rocket and the La Sardina. Out of all 4, I had very little success with 3 of them. Every time I try to load a film in my Diana or Fisheye camera, I ended up using more than one roll because, yes you guessed it, I never succeed the first time. However, this summer, I had enough free time to experiment with my La Sardina and boy was I extremely happy with how these pictures turned out. I am particularly very content with the multiple exposure pictures. Shooting using 200 ISO film was hard but NYC summer made it less frustrating since it is almost never cloudy. I hope you enjoy these pictures. I know it is a little different that what we like to post, but I just can’t not share these pictures!
