CYCLING THROUGH COPENHAGEN

Before moving and working in Germany, I had the chance to travel around the Scandinavian countries. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be Denmark. Copenhagen was better than I expected. Before coming here, I did not know that it was the city that has one of the oldest theme parks in the world, the Tivoli Gardens. Furthermore, it was the theme park which inspired the late Walt Disney to build the famous Disneyland. The city also homes one of the world’s most photogenic views, the Nyhavn Canals, which we discovered as we biked all the way from the grand entrance of Tivoli Gardens to the famous Little Mermaid statue. We also stopped a little on the way to jump on a series of trampolines where I fell face first; it was definitely embarrassing when kids just hop by.

My sister and I also had the chance to enter Tivoli which housed a series of thrill rides such as the second tallest carousel and one of the world’s oldest but functioning wooden coaster. The park was not as big as Disneyland, but I can still feel the pleasure of going on thrill rides that can entertain the young and old. Oh, the park also uses a traditional ticket system, “you pay for what you ride” or the traditional “pay once for as much as you want”. We chose the buffet package and stayed there until closing time without realizing what time it was – 12am. Anyways, Copenhagen is a beautiful city that was and still is an inspiration to many people. Hope you will have the chance to visit this place.

P.S. Some of the pictures are not taken by me, but by my sister.
