JAPAN: MIMI RABBIT CAFE IN IKEBUKURO

Hello! Sorry for the lack of posts. I am currently wrapping up my second to last semester as an undergraduate student plus juggling two side-jobs so I have not been able to write as much as I want to. We are going on a trip soon so we want to make sure we roll out all the Japan posts before we have more photos piling up! Today I will share my first ever experience with going to an animal cafe in Japan. Going to an animal cafe has been on both Kenny and my bucket list for the longest time. We knew we wanted to use our time in Japan to cross this off our list. Kenny and I are both dog people so naturally we would want to go to a dog cafe. However, I thought it would be more exciting if we go to a rabbit cafe since neither of us have rabbits as pets back at home. After intense research (aka Kenny spending 10 minutes on Google and me being useless), Kenny and I decided to go to Mimi Bunny Cafe in Ikebukuro, which was about a 10 minute walk from our hotel. We spent one hour there for 1200 yen plus a free matcha latte. When we came, the very sweet waiter from the cafe greeted us and told us to wash our hands, put on an apron and change into a pair of crocs they prepared for visitors.

The waiter then escorted us to the place where we can play with the bunnies. The best thing about this place is that they always have at least three bunnies out to play with the customers so there will be no customers left behind! Honestly, this place really exceeded my expectations. When I first came in the cafe, I was hesitant because I did not think that playing with rabbits for one hour would be fun at all. How was I proved so wrong. When the waiter notified us that our time is up, I was really sad as I have grown so attached to some of the rabbits (shout out to Sasuke the big dark brown aggressive bunny).

If you are in the area, we highly recommend going to Mimi Rabbit Cafe. We can’t wait to go back!

Have you ever been to any animal cafes? Did you enjoy you time there?
